  • About this coffee

The origins of coffee in Tanzania date back through oral history to the Haya tribe of northwestern Tanzania in the 16th century. Following German and then British colonial rule, the Tanzanian coffee industry underwent many transformations and adjustments. Today, our local partner, Sucafina Tanzania, is investing in improving coffee culture and the lives of smallholder farmers through various initiatives.
Our Korongo blend (meaning “flamingo”) comes from a network of washing stations in Mbozi, Mbeya and Mbinga, on the peaks in the south of the country.
The term AB is a classification of grains according to their size and which is specific to each country, here it is those which measure between 6 and 7 millimeters.
This batch is IMPACT certified; Sucafina's responsible sourcing standard which focuses on 5 key areas to improve carbon emissions, human rights, regenerative agriculture, living income and deforestation. Through this certification, farmers can access new markets and increase their livelihoods while having a greater positive environmental impact.

The cherry is harvested by hand. Farmers process cherries on their own farms, so individual processing methods vary from farm to farm. Typically, the cherry is pulped using a pulper and then the parchment is dried on raised beds for 14 to 20 days (washed process).
This coffee will bring you cups with notes of orange, dark chocolate and jasmine.
